MY STORY
I'm a Newark Ohioan who came back to teach at NHS.

My name is Baron Smith and I am a 2006 graduate of Newark Senior High School. While at NHS I played football, served on student and class council, worked at Kroger, and lived the dream. I was fortunate to attend Ohio University, in Athens, Ohio, where I graduated in 2011 with a Bachelors in Science of Education to teach Social Studies. I was offered a Social Studies position that Spring and have been at NHS ever since.

I always wanted to come back to Newark. I love this town. It has made me who I am and I would not change that for anything. I teach American History, along with the online History of Newark and Licking County. I coach football and am involved in whatever I can be here at NHS.

My wife, Courtney, is a teacher at Liberty Middle School. I met my wife in Athens, while attending Ohio University. We have a son, Keller Smith and a daughter due in September, named Palmer.

I earned my Masters Degree from THE Ohio State University where I specialized in Educational Administration. I am very fortunate and grateful for the life I live. I have worked very hard to reach where I am today...if I can do it...anyone can...
